Master Ropemakers X Creature Clothes Rope Dog Lead with Leather Handle

This gorgeous Skinny Rope Dog Lead is part of the collection created in collaboration between Creature Clothes & the Master Ropemakers at Chatham Historic Dockyard.  Handcrafted through and though, this is a beautiful lead, full of history.

The Leather Handle

The leather handle in this lead is taken from our classic all leather lead.  The rope makes up the main body of the lead.  The leather becomes soft and buttery the more you use it, soon melting into your hand.  Softer on your hands with dogs that pull and so very elegant.  This is our lead of choice.

The Rope

The rope used in our skinny rope dog lead is called Chatham Hemp, which takes its name from Chatham Historic Dockyard where the rope is hand made to this day on the original Victorian ropewalk, using the original Victorian machinery.  Rope has been made at Chatham since 1618 and the Master Ropemakers are the oldest ropemaking facility in the UK.  This is a 3 strand rope is made from hemp found in the flax plant.  It uses no dyes, no plastics, no toxins.  It’s soft fibres and natural colour make a beautiful, chic, eco friendly & historic rope lead for your dog.

The “Chunky” edition of our collaborative lead is in very strong yet soft 14mm rope.  It is perfect for big, strong dogs.  The beauty of Chatham Hemp is that the more it is used the softer the rope becomes in your hands.

Each lead in the collection is very slightly unique as they are entirely hand crafted, the handle spliced together in the traditional way by the craftsmen and women at Chatham.

The Leather

At the point where you would traditionally find the rope whipped together, Creature Clothes have made their mark, encasing the whipping at the splice in our gorgeous tan leather.  The leather encasements are individually debossed with our Gold Shouty Dog at the handle end, and our bezel at the clip end.  The leather tightly bound around the join, then stuck, weighted and stitched in heavy thread for extra strength.  The edges of the leather are sealed and painted by hand in our Suffolk workshop.

This is a brilliant lead.  Strong, stylish and incredibly practical.  You will love it.

Because this product is entirely made by hand, please expect some small individualities to each lead.
