Dog Friendly Brighton - Coffee Shops & Cafes.
One of the questions we get asked most in our Brighton shop is “Where would you recommend we go with our dog for a coffee and a bite to eat?”
So here are my favourite dog friendly spots for coffee and a light bite, all in distance order from the front door of our shop in Bond Street, Brighton.
1. Bond Street Coffee.
Area: North Laine. 15 Bond St, Brighton.
Distance from shop: over the road.

When we first came to Brighton our friend Suki took us to Bond Street Coffee, saying “this is the best coffee in Brighton”. The place is legendary in Brighton. The team are all so super friendly, the coffee is amazing, the vegan cookies unreal. There is a lovely cosy table by the window where you can watch Brighton go by from the comfort of an armchair. I love to watch dog owners sitting outside on the bench in the morning with their morning brew. They really are the best, and coolest, neighbours a girl and her dog shop could wish for.
2. Flint Owl Bakery.
Area: North Laine. 24 Bond St, Brighton.

The original Flint Owl Bakery is in Lewes and deeply loved. The Brighton branch opened at around the time we did 5 years ago and has kept us caffeinated and snacked up for the past 5 years. Delicious loaves of sourdough arrive freshly baked from Lewes each morning to fill their window shelves. Step in and deciding what to have for lunch is truly tricky - the sarnies are out of this world. Cappuccinos are the order of the day here, with a cheeky cheese straw or cardamon bun on the side. There is a lovely light and spacey mezzanine area at the back of the cafe where Beetle and I recently had lunch with Gus the Labradoodle after he came in to Creature Clothes for a new bow tie - he had plenty of room to stretch out while we ate. Perfect!
3. Triple Point Coffee.
Area: North Laine.

Distance from shop: 1 minute, heading into the North Laine.

Triple Point is my go to for a coffee or delicious hibiscus iced tea if I am heading North or deeper into the North Laine. Stu the owner always has a delicious coffee brewing for you to sample as is the most knowledgable man you will ever meet when it comes to coffee. I love going in and being asked “what kind of flavours are you after today?”. I never know but Stu will give me a cup of deliciousness and tell me all about it which I love. Their pastries are so good, especially the raspberry one… You can pick up bags of coffee and coffee making kit here too AND if you are lucky their adorable shop dog Mango the Cockerpoo will be curled up asleep on his bed when you visit too, maybe in his Creature Clothes collar and bandana too...
4. Puzzle Bored.
Area: North Laine, near the Theatre Royal.

Fully dog friendly over all 3 of its floors, Puzzle Bored is a gorgeous cafe that has neuro diversity and puzzling at it’s heart. Two of the floors are low sensory spaces where you can enjoy a brew and a jigsaw. Or get involved in one of the many visiting workshops or activity sessions - I found out about them after taking my little girl to a halloween themed crafting afternoon there.
I walk past Puzzle Bored every day when I take Beetle and Buzz for a lunch time stroll in Pavillion Gardens, which is on their doorstep and also a great location to sip your take out coffee, but dogs are not allowed off leads within the gardens.
My favourite there - a brain boosting Lions Main Coffee and a lovely chat with Mark the owner, one of the nicest people you will ever meet.
5. Hi Cacti.
Area: 7 Dials.
Address: 67 Dyke Road, Brighton.
Distance from shop: 12-15 minutes walk, via 2 dog parks.

Hi Cacti is my go to coffee place if I’m up in Seven Dials. I LOVE it in here. Sabina, the owner & founder of this gorgeous little coffee and cactus joint is a complete joy and I always love popping in to have a chat and a stroke of her dog Otto, who also wears one of our collars! My go to is Sabina’s iced coffee, sweetened with a dash of agave and a Pastel De Nata on the side. Pure perfection. I can’t wait to try her iced horchata expresso as that’s what I’ve been drinking at home all summer and it is my current FAVE. Dogs are so so welcome here, and you can pick up some gorgeous gifts while you are there too.
6. Fishing Museum Coffeeshop.
Area: Brighton Beach (West of the pier)

Buzz and I love running in the morning - we head straight down to the sea from the shop and then pull either a left down to Sea Lanes, or a right down to Hove Lawns. This little treasure of a coffee can be found on our Hove Lawns route, and they open at 8am so are perfect for a coffee on your morning dog walk - a surprising amount of cafes in Brighton don’t open until later. Surrounded by old fishing boats on blocks, you can sit on an old coffee sack on the wall and enjoy your coffee with your dog and take in the views of the pier and the sea. Dogs aren’t allowed on Brighton beach over the summer months (more on this in another blog), but they ARE allowed on the promenade, so if your family are with you this really is the perfect spot to grab a coffee with your dog at the beach while others swim in the sea, play on the beach, or climb in the nearby old fishing boats. The takeout cups are home compatible and the coffee is delicious. On my last visit Buzz was particularly badly behaved, but Robert the owner took it all in his stride while his choc lab stared at her tennis ball. A really lovely, genuine spot with a gorgeous cool surf hut aesthetic.
7. FIKA.
Area: Sea Lanes (east of the pier, on the beach below Kemptown)
Address: Sea Lanes, Brighton.
Distance from shop: 18-22 minutes, depending on if you walk on the pebbles or on Madeira Drive.

One of my absolute favourite places in the world is the Sea Lanes area of Brighton, making Fika one of my absolute favourite coffee shops. I LOVE an americano with over night oats or a cardamon bun, shared with my @oceanset buddies after a surf fit session, paddling around on surf boards in the sea, or after a big swim at the National Centre For Outdoor Swimming - the 50m outdoor swimming pool that is part of the Sea Lanes complex. Both of these, and the Beach Box Sauna that I like to sneak off to whenever I can, don’t involve my dogs… but I do come here with Beetle and Buzz too - our morning run from the shop to Black Rock Power station and back is exactly 5k door to door, and this is a really perfect stop off. Head over here in winter to sit around their fire pit with your dog and watch the cold water swimmers, many training for channel swims, charging up and down the pool. Their cheese and kimchi toasties are unreal and perfect if meeting a friend for lunch and a dog walk. The staff are so lovely, they even saved my surf board fro me - I went out for a paddle with the dogs (in their lifejackets) and my kids one morning and completely forgot to put my surf board back in the car when we were racing back to get to school, leaving it against the railings of the adjacent Madeira Drive parking. Fika found it and kept it in their store room, safe and sound. When I went back that afternoon they were so happy to find it’s owner, a very idiotic me. All I can say is I remembered the dogs and the kids. I’m celebrating the wins here.
8. THE READING ROOMS.

This place is SO COOL. It’s utterly beautiful. Cool, elegant, chic… When my family are in town, and I want to show them Brighton at it’s very elegant best, we take a dog walk along the beach, ending in coffee or lunch at The Reading Rooms. The red metal tables and chairs, the stacks of old books on each table, the gorgeous, enormous shade giving umbrellas and the uninterrupted view, The Reading Rooms really is a top pic. Beetle and I last came here with my sister and one of my daughters for a lovely lunch in the sun. It was meant to be coffee and cake but turned into Aperol Spritz’s with tapas to share while we watched the sea and really caught up. Beetle was brought a bowl of water by the team who made sure she had plenty of shade to sit in on quite a hot day. They didn’t mind that she arrived wet after a dip in the sea to keep her cool while we had lunch. Another of my absolute favourite spots in Brighton, that really hammers home how lucky we are to live and work here. PLUS… the walkway on the beach makes the here an easier one as you know your dog/s knees are safe from cruciate damage on the pebbles. You can also hop on the Volks Electric Railway from the Aquarium Station by the pier down to Black Rock Station for added fun. There is also a car park very nearby, and it is very accessible with easy to navigate ramps - I have also brought my mum here in her wheelchair to celebrate her birthday. Lovely!
9. Cecconi’s.
Area: The Aquarium / Pier.

Beetle and I recently visited Cecconi’s to have coffee with lovely Brighton vet, Dr Mark Abrahams, AKA Mark The Vet. Mark wanted to show us the gorgeous dog friendly terrace, overlooking the pier and beach. Cecconis is part of the Brighton Beach House, but you do not have to be a member of Soho House to eat or drink there. The staff are completely divine and Beetle was made SUCH a fuss of. She had recently had emergency surgery and the team really showered her with love. The coffee was delicious too. I can’t wait to go back and have a very fancy, Northern Italian lunch there soon. The views are absolutely unbeatable and really does show Brighton at it’s brilliant best. For a chic, elegant and very cool place to go with your dog, this is a top pic. 10. Granny’s.
Area: South Lanes/

Granny’s is a gorgeous little cafe, slightly out of the way but still very central, and is my absolute go to if I need a lovely calm place to work from and focus in. Beetle and I will grab her travel tote and padded blanket, throw in lap top, and one matcha later my to do list is done. You will have the BEST MATCHA IN BRIGHTON HERE. In fact, Granny’s hand whisked matcha has become legendary - it is out of this world. Pair it with one of their cinnamon buns, and there’s a strong chance you will never leave. Granny’s is run by the loveliest husband and wife team, and is possibly the most dog friendly cafe in Brighton - they even commissioned us to make dog beds for the cafe with their logo on when they first opened! This gorgeous, peaceful little independent cafe is one of Brightons absolute hidden gems. Enjoy!
